candle care
Share
soy wax and wooden wicks require a little more care than paraffin or other mass produced candles. below are a few tips + tricks to help your august & ember candle at peak performance!
trim the wick
a burnt wood wick will often not stay lit. allow the wick and wax to cool and trim the wick by gently breaking off the burnt edges with a cloth or napkin if you don't own a wick trimmer.
allow the wax to pool
make sure that the wax melts to the edge of the candle before extinguishing it - this may take between 30 - 60 minutes. allowing the wax to pool will discourage 'tunnelling' or leaving wax on the sides of the vessel.
adornments are decorative
while we test burn every candle, with every type of topping or adornment for flammability and " wick clogging", some customers do prefer to remove larger toppings such as dried citrus.
slow down
avoid excessive burn time, no more than 4 hours at one time is recommended.
every candle is handmade, and no two will look exactly the same. that's the magic of purchasing a hand poured, hand decorated candle from us!
